What problems does a Networked Drone Station Solve in India?

I never know what was it like to be an adult without internet and i m really amazed by the efficiency of information sharing at this time on the earth, comparing it to even a 1.5 decades ago where most the information had to flow from one part of the country to another may be on wheels or legs. So , what if we do this to package delivery , where you can deliver a package within few minutes or hours depending on the distance ? Isnt it exciting to get your flipkart/Amazon package within few minutes/few hours after you ask for it ? How will it feel to send a lunch box/birthday gifts/important documents without any human touching it within a few minutes ?

I know it is really exciting , but what if i tell you can own such a delivery vehicle and move it across a city or to few parts of country. So , at this point when i m writing this blog i m also paralelly working on such system to implement that system atleast partly.

What is a Drone Station ?

A Drone Station is a fully autonomous space where drones can land and takeoff any time in the day. The Drone Station takes care of a lot of things you take care, when it is at your space. You can really make your drone rest at our station as long as you dont want it to takeoff from our station. You can recharge your drone when it is in need of power. You can test your drone for flying capabilities with in our system , and we equip our station with all the resources that is required. Dont worry, our station will also guide your drone with precision to land on/takeoff from our system.

How is this implemented ?

As mentioned it is a network of drone stations and i will be explaining here with layman’s language. We will be placing each station at an ideal interval of distance , looking at the rise in distance in latest drones , we might need 1100 stations at the interval of 1km to implement in a city like bangalore which has 35km in length and 33 km in width. I know its costly to build 1100 stations, but every food delivery company, courier service company and e-commerce company would want to use it , because of the efficiency in terms of finance, time , human resource and the huge rise in customer experience these companies would offer with this service.

How will the drone know about the presence of the station ?

Well , your drone will not know anything about the station , its you and your computers who will know about the stations. We will provide web and mobile applications for you to guide your drone towards our stations. If your drone network is completely automatic you can use our api’s to guide your drone.

What Problems Does this System Solve ?

Looking at the rise in online services which delivers straight to customer at his/her doorstep requires huge amount of planning,finance,human resources and vehicles , which is usually very slow.

Considering all these parameters of a package movement system and because of the fact that most of these packages would weight only from 1 to 4kgs it would be very efficient to bring automated vehicles like drone to deliver these packages. But in a huge city like bangalore and the incapabilities of the drone would really make it nearly impossible to implement a drone package delivery for any company.

Because we understand that it is difficult for each one of these companies to have their own station across city , we would offer a common networked drone station that is available every half a km with atleast 30–40 accomodation which would make it 30,000 —40,000 acommodation across bangalore and 90–120 accomodations every 2sqkm. Considering that each day the city will have across 5million deliveries delivered by 2,50,000 drones each delivering an average of 20 packages a day. It would be an huge transformation in the delivery service in terms of speed , cost and human resources.

Revenue Model

Considering the different services offered by the system ,we can charge for each landing , battery recharge, no of hours spent and fitness report. Considering that atleast 10 drones will land on each station in an hour we will have 10,000 drones landing across bangalore in an hour. Based on the different services the drone would want to use , it will be huge revenue each day and the efficiency this system has got to offer would be transformational for many companies.

Today’s Market

Looking at the limitations of the drone it is not possible to use drones in delivery services for individual companies. Because of a common networked drone station , it would be cheap for them operate and extend the limitations of the drone transport. Because it has the capacity to tranform businesses , it would generate a lot of revenue once the industry is ready for the technology.

Cities are not the only targeted market in today’s growing world. Many companies delivers across the city and countries. We by building these infrastructure in cities where it is sustainable and efficient , enable ourself for cross city deliveries.
